Overview
Designed and delivered a full-day social media workshop for a major Nordic bank's event marketing team, connecting social platforms to sponsorship value, event promotion and measurable results.
Who This Is For
Event, sponsorship and marketing teams in banks and other large organisations that run events but struggle to extend their reach or show their value. This case is most useful if:
- your events end when the room empties
- sponsors ask what they get beyond the logo
- social channels are used ad hoc, without a plan for before, during and after
- you cannot show results beyond participation
The Challenge
The bank's event marketing team ran sponsorships and corporate events but had no structured way to use social media, then still a new channel, to extend an event's reach before, during and after it took place.
It also had no way to prove the value of that activity to sponsors and internal stakeholders.
Our Approach
The team now behind ECM.DEV wrote and delivered a full-day workshop, Event Marketing Using Social Media.
- Better event websites: making them more useful and discoverable.
- Planning by audience: promoting events through social channels for delegates, sponsors and B2B journalists.
- A real case, phase by phase: an award-winning example structured around before, during and after the event.
- A practical toolkit: a hands-on social media tools session.
- Measurement: a framework covering Google Analytics and platform metrics across Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, blogs and LinkedIn.
- Follow-up: five hours of free advisory work to help the team put the tools into practice.
Impact
Built around the event lifecycle. Concrete guidance for before, during and after, not generic social media advice.
Sponsor value made explicit. A module on giving sponsorship packages measurable value.
Results, not just activity. Defined metrics across five platforms, so the team could show what worked.
Sponsors pay for reach. Without measurement, an events team can only claim it.

The Content Infrastructure Imperative
Why AI Amplifies Every Flaw in Your Content Operating System

Dries Buytaert: The cost of running multiple CMS platforms
Dries Buytaert argues that running multiple CMS platforms creates hidden operational costs through duplicated integrations, security policies, expertise, and governance. He proposes standardizing on Drupal while using different operating models—SaaS (Acquia Source) for speed and PaaS (Acquia Cloud) for control—to preserve flexibility while reducing fragmentation.
